Radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery are the other options that are used for treating patients with the mesothelioma. While the disease usually affects the lungs, there are other places too where it can strike in the body. In many cases for example, the cancer is known to develop in the abdominal linings. This occurs mainly due to the ingestion of asbestos into the digestive tract, unlike in the vast majority of cases where inhalation of asbestos is the main culprit.
